Classes – National Championships

ABkC Rotax Junior Max National Championship
(Grade B Championship)
13 – 17 years

For 13th year to 17 year olds, the class is run to the regulations in the MSA Kart Race Yearbook (the Gold Book), and chassis registrations are NOT required. Drivers have t weigh a minimum of 42.5kg.  A de-tuned version of the senior 125cc engine without a power valve is used. Tyres are as MiniMax.  Number plates are red with white numbers.

ABkC Rotax Senior Max National Championship
(Grade B Championship)
16 years and over

For drivers from age 15 upwards (with experience and a minimum driver weight for under-16’s), this senior class runs to the regulations in the MSA Kart Race Yearbook (the Gold Book). The engine is a powerful 125cc two-stroke with power valve, with an on-board electric self-starter. Tyres are Mojo D2 with yellow bar code and Mojo W2 wets.  Number plates are blue with white numbers.

ABkC Tal-Ko Formula Junior TKM National Championship
(Grade B Championship)
11 – 17 years of age

For 11 to 17 year olds, restricted to 100cc British TKM engine with various sizes of inlet restrictors depending on the weight of the driver, and karts that have some restrictions on the adjustments allowed. No tuning and very few chassis modifications are allowed. Uses Maxxis long life tyres and blue number plates with white numbers.   Drivers must be a minimum of 4ft 7in in height and a minimum of 38kg weight with suit, helmet, gloves and boots on.

ABkC Tal-Ko Formula TKM Extreme National Championships
(Grade B Championship)
15 years and over

The same type of engine and chassis types as the junior, but without an engine restrictor, makes it easy to move from Junior to Senior and the engine is increased in size to 115cc. The class uses red number plates with white numbers and Maxxis tyres. The TKM classes are raced extensively at club level, resulting in high competition in the Super One. Drivers can enter the class from age 15 if they have sufficient experience and meet a minimum weight.

ABkC Honda Cadet  Championship
(Grade B Championship)
8 – 13 years of age

Cadets are for 8 to 13 year olds, and the specially approved mini-chassis (not restricted to British makes) use an Honda GX160 4-stroke engine.  The engine is not sealed and performance is almost the same as the IAME Cadet class. Tyres are from Dunlop and plates are red with white numbers.  The best ten drivers are awarded ‘seeded’ numbers to use everywhere in the UK until the end of the following year’s championship.
